Bookmaker William Hill has decided to pay out winnings to punters who backed Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Mendes to score against Manchester United (MUFC) on 4 January.
In the last minute of the Premiership football game, MUFC’s goalkeeper Roy Carroll fumbled a 45m punt from Mendes into his own net, but none of the game’s officials saw or signalled the “goal” and the game ended 0-0.
William Hill will honour all bets which backed Mendes to score the first goal of the game at 20-1 or at any time in the match at 11-2.
