Youth Sector Sports Development Unit launched
A partnership of five organisations led by the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) has been established in an initiative to create greater sporting opportunities for young people in youth organisations.
The Youth Sector Sports Development Unit will bring together the NCVYS – along with 4Children, Clubs for Young People, YMCA England and UK Youth – to encourage the promotion of physical activity and sport as a tool for personal and social development.
The three-year scheme is being funded by Sport England at a cost of £750,000.
The chief executive of the NCVYS, Susanne Rauprich, said: "The programme will be a fantastic opportunity for voluntary and community-based youth organisations to develop active participation in sport.
"Young people will be placed at the core of the programme and the partnership is committed to making youth participation a reality."
