sporta has launched a comprehensive directory detailing the leisure facilities run by its members across the country.

The directory, compiled by Leisure-net Solutions on behalf of sporta, forms the first audit of sporta's 110 cultural and leisure trusts, and is an essential tool for understanding the significant role that trusts now play within the culture and leisure sector.

The directory comprises two spreadsheets designed to help the user extract desired data as quickly and effectively as possible. The first is a breakdown of data by sporta member. Each page is dedicated to a single member with contact information and details of the sites they manage, as well as the type of facilities on offer.

The second spreadsheet gives a breakdown of 879 sites by type of facility and is set out in the categories below, allowing the user to search sporta members' facilities and target those relevant to the products or services they can provide. The brackets indicate the total number of facilities run by sporta members:

  • Swimming (378)
  • Fitness (incl. fitness suites and exercise studios) (527)
  • Steam/saunas (254)
  • Treatments (75)
  • Golf (56)
  • Indoor sports hall (407)
  • Outdoor pitches (incl. Athletics) (243)
  • Squash (190)
  • Café facilities (244)
  • Children's facilities (incl. equipment, softplay etc. and crèche) (298)
  • Parks (35)
  • Libraries (52)
  • Theatres (25)
  • Museums (17)
  • Heritage (8)
  • Other (181)
Craig McAteer, chair of sporta said: "The directory demonstrates the comprehensive range of services and facilities that sporta members now manage within the UK and will prove a valuable source of prospective clients for suppliers within the industry."

The database costs £400 for a one-off purchase or £450, including two six-monthly updates in January 2010 and July 2010.

For further information or to obtain a free sample of the data available contact Sarah Gilvey at [email protected].
