£8.25m university facility for Twickenham
Sebastian Coe and double Olympic medallist Rebecca Romero will help open a new £8.25m sports centre at St Mary's University College in Twickenham, London, on 27 October.
Former 10,000m world record holder Dave Bedford and representatives from Sport England will also attend the unveiling of the facility, along with Olympians including Tim Brabants.
The scheme aims to support and enhance the number of sport and health-related currently on offer at the institution, as well as facilitating staff, student and community activities.
Work has included a new sports hall; a strength and conditioning suite; and changing spaces, with a new-build element created as an extension to the existing games hall and sports block.
Professor Richard Fisher, head of St Mary's 2012 preparations and sport strategy, said: "Sport plays an important role in the student experience at the University College and the facilities are a key part of delivering this."
The new facilities were designed by Rivington Street Studio and built by Morgan Ashurst.
