$21.4m revamp for Taiwan museum
Taiwan’s National Palace Museum is to complete its TW$21.4m (US$670,000, 553,000 euros, £376,000) renovation programme by June 2006.
The refurbishment of the museum, which houses Chinese art spanning 5,000 years, will upgrade the main building to modern standards and includes adding new emergency exits and educational facilities as well as expanding the current exhibition gallery space.
The museum opened in 1965 and attracts around two million visitors a year. Details: www.npm.gov.tw
