3D releases boost Cineworld revenues
Cineworld has reported an 8.5 per cent increase in revenues for the 42 weeks ending 21 October 2010, with successful 3D films helping to attract audiences.
Compared with the same period in 2009, box office and retail revenues grew by 8.3 and 1.5 per cent respectively, while the operator saw other income increase by nearly 44 per cent. According to the cinema operator, films such as Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever during the second half of the year had helped drive up footfall.
A Cineworld spokesperson said: "The final quarter of the financial year has a promising film line up, although this is set against a tough comparator for 2009. "The remaining 2010 film line up, together with our strong performance to date, gives us confidence in delivering continued growth for the full year at least in line with market expectation."
