50 Shades of Play: One man's mission to get the nation active
John Oxley, Managing Director of Active Nation, has committed to trying 50 sports before turning 50 in April 2013, whilst inspiring and encouraging people to join him along the way.
Inspired by an incredible summer of sport, and a vision to see a healthier and fitter nation, John felt passionate about supporting the Olympic legacy and decided to embark on a personal journey to prove that the basic fundamentals of any sport can be learnt in no time, whilst helping others in the process and getting fitter himself.
John hopes to raise over £5,000 to support two worthy causes: The Rising Stars programme - funding talented athletes for Rio 2016 and beyond, and Sporting Chance initiative - supporting activities for people with physical and mental disabilities.
His '50 Shades of Play' challenge kicked off at Woodmill Activities Centre, in Southampton, on 17 October with archery and kayaking.
