Aberdeen project funding 'dependent on support'
The Scottish Government has said that Aberdeen City Council's bid to use Tax Incremental Funding (TIF) for the City Garden Project will rely on public support for the proposals.
An international design competition has been held for the multi-million pound regeneration of Aberdeen's Union Terrace Gardens, which will create a major new open space for the northern Scottish city.
Work on a TIF business case for the scheme has started, but the Scottish Government has confirmed that it would only move forward if there is demonstrable backing for the plans.
Earlier this year, North Lanarkshire Council's plans to use TIF for a £73m investment in the second phase of the Ravenscraig regeneration scheme was given the green light.
