Airport first for Arora Sofitel
The first ever gym situated inside a UK airport is set to open later this year, in the state of the art, 608-room Arora Sofitel hotel located within Heathrow’s new terminal 5 building.
With its extensive conference and meeting facilities – including the 1,700-capacity Arora Suite – the new hotel will target the international corporate traveller, allowing them to conduct their business without ever having to leave the airport. Use of the 100sq m (1,076sq ft) fitness suite and its spa facilities will, however, be restricted to hotel guests.
The exact opening date of the hotel is yet to be confirmed, but is currently set for late spring/summer this year. The exclusive gym will, however, be installed by Star Trac at the end of March.
Equipment will include seven E-Series CV stations – all with personal viewing screens – and two Spin bikes with new spin computers, alongside two rowers from Concept 2. Resistance equipment, also from Star Trac, will include a MaxRack, selected for the wide range of exercises it allows within a small footprint, and with the safety of a rack.
