Aquaterra Islington's Free Access for National Sportspeople (FANS) Scheme

Aquaterra Leisure, in partnership with Islington Council, is thrilled to announce the launch of the FANS Scheme which will provide free access to sporting facilities within the London Borough of Islington to aspiring future sporting stars.

FANS aims to assist elite sportspeople to achieve their full potential by reducing the burden of training costs.

Six Islington-based leisure centres will participate in the FANS scheme. The leisure centres include Archway Leisure Centre, Cally Pool, Finsbury Leisure Centre, Islington Tennis Centre, Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre and Sobell Leisure Centre, which are managed by Aquaterra Leisure in partnership with Islington Council.

Penny Shrubb, Special Projects Manager at Aquaterra Leisure said: "I am delighted that Aquaterra Leisure has joined forces with Islington Council to provide such a fantastic scheme for the future stars of sports. This exciting initiative helps to reinforce Aquaterra's commitment to supporting residents, stakeholders and partners by providing opportunities for individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations."

To cement this key partnership Aquaterra Leisure is happy to announce it will sponsor the Sport Islington and Islington School Sport Association Awards on 9th July at Islington Town Hall and will provide sponsorship in the region of £1,000 for an annual achievement award in collaboration with Sport Islington.

To be eligible for the scheme participants must be aged 16 or over, currently competing at national level in a Sport England-recognised sport and residing in the London Borough of Islington for the majority of the year. Sport Islington and Aquaterra Leisure will administer the application process.
