Attractions.io has created a bespoke night-time app for UK theme park Alton Towers, which the operator will use for its Scarefest and Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular events.

Designed to reflect the environment for after-dark events at Alton Towers, the interactive map adjusts – in real time – to mirror the ambient light in the mobile device's environment.

The dynamic lighting map is part of Attractions.io's ongoing collaboration with Alton Towers Resort.

The new map will be made available to visitors as an update to the mobile app created by the tech company for Alton Towers and which is already being used by the operator.

Bianca Sammut, divisional director for Alton Towers Resort, comments: “As a Theme Park Resort we strive to be innovative and love to provide our guests with something unique.

"Thanks to this new feature, Attractions.io has made this possible within our app and I'm excited for our guests to see this update in all its glory.”

For this year's Scarefest, Alton Towers has partnered with online gaming influencer Daz Games.

The immersive Daz Games: Panic! experience combines an escape room with a live action scare maze.

Marketed as a first-of-its-kind scare attraction, guests – or "players" – will be given a wristband and released into the attraction to compete to find two unique symbols and exit within seven minutes.

However, they will not be alone. Daz Games: Panic! will put players through an intense series of tests to challenge the mind and body, as they race against the clock to find the symbols and escape before being trapped in the game forever.

Other attractions at this year's Scarefest include Burial Grounds, a free-flowing outdoor scare zone; Altonville Mine Tours – Tiny’s Revenge, a haunted house experience; and three additional horror-themed mazes.

For smaller guests, there is also the Trick 'O' Treat Town with Haribo.
