Jubilee Hall Trust won the Health & Wellbeing Project Award at this annual event held this year on Friday 19 November at Lord's cricket ground.

Prizes were presented by Karen Pickering MBE, a former GB Olympic swimmer, as well as Louise Hyams, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster.

Jubilee Hall Trust won the award for their seniors dance programme delivered in conjunction with The Abbey Centre and Age UK.

The programme has enabled thousands of local residents to take part in up to five free dance classes every week for the last year in community locations around Westminster.

Eighty-nine per cent of participants said that they were more active now than before they started the classes and 92 per cent had noticed improvements to their general health or fitness.

The project was part-funded by the council's Neighbourhoods Ward budget, supplemented by Jubilee Hall Trust, with the venues donating free room hire and administration.

The prize includes £500 of additional funding to go with the £5,700 which has just been awarded by Westminster City Council to continue the programme into 2011.

Jubilee Hall, Covent Garden was also a finalist in the Active Place category and one of their oldest members, Lou Myers (82), was a finalist for the Active Resident award.
