Baker Tilly: Hospitality administrations increase
New analysis from Baker Tilly has found that the overall number of hotel and licensed trade sector businesses going into administration went up by nearly a fifth last year.
The insolvency practitioners revealed that hotel operators fuelled the increase, as the number of administration appointments grew by nearly 57 per cent compared with 2010 to 80.
Baker Tilly restructuring and recovery partner Peter Cooper said: "Our view remains unchanged: there is no room for complacency or underperformance in the current climate.
"We expect the rise in insolvencies to continue into Q1 2012 as a lag response to defaults on December quarter rent payments."
