Banyan Tree is adding Connection Retreatsimmersive wellbeing journeys for small groups – to its signature Connections programme that was originally launched last year for two guests at a time.

Banyan Tree Connections programming for two integrates movement, mindfulness and shared rituals to nurture inner balance and relational harmony between partners, friends or family members.

The new Connection Retreats will strengthen the existing programme’s ethos, with experiences designed to deepen personal reflection and shared experiences. The multi-day retreats will encourage guests to slow down through guided practices in mindfulness, movement, meditation and rituals local to each destination.

Paul Hawco, executive director of integrated wellbeing for Banyan Group, said: “For more than three decades, Banyan Tree has pioneered a holistic approach to wellbeing, where environments, rituals and experiences come together to nurture meaningful connection and renewal.

"Banyan Tree Connections was created in response to a growing longing for deeper human connection," added Hawco. "As the programme evolves, we are also enriching our spa and wellbeing experiences through thoughtfully curated gatherings, from immersive retreats and seasonal celebrations to expert-led workshops and meaningful collaborations. Guided by our eight pillars of wellbeing philosophy, these programmes unfold across our sanctuaries for the senses worldwide, inviting guests to move, reflect, learn and reconnect.”

Banyan Tree has also announced a global partnership with premium yoga mats and accessories supplier Manduka. Equipment will be used during the various retreats at selected properties.

Connections Retreats

Between 21-25 May, Manduka ambassador Nicole Marty will lead a Connections Retreat at Mamula Island by Banyan Tree in Montenegro. Overlooking the waters of Boka Bay, the agenda will include grounding yoga, mindful movement and moments of stillness. The retreat will focus on deep connection with oneself, others and nature. Marty specialises in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga as well as restorative practices for rest, renewal and reflection.

Banyan Tree took over the Mamula Island property last year.

Sustainability advocate Nadya Hutagalung will lead a Connections Retreat at Buahan, A Banyan Tree Escape in Bali, between 9 October and 2 November. Set within the jungle landscape, this retreat will involve meditation, sound healing, mindful movement and reflective dialogue. The activations are inspired by the Balinese philosophy Tri Hita Karana – a Balinese Hindu philosophy that teaches happiness comes from the balance of connection.

Banyan Tree Connections expansion

This private immersion programme for two is also expanding across the brand’s global destinations.

Last year it was available at Banyan Tree Anji in China, Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico, Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand and Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru in the Maldives.

Eight additional Banyan Tree locations around the world will offer the immersions from May this year.

These locations include:

  • Banyan Tree Alula in Saudi Arabia
  • Banyan Tree Dubai in the UAE
  • Banyan Tree Lang Co in Vietnam
  • Banyan Tree Nanjing Garden Expo in China
  • Banyan Tree Samui in Thailand
  • Baynan Tree Bintan in Indonesia
  • Buahan, A Banyan Tree Escape, in Indonesia
