“Big four” travellers flood into Europe
An influx of travellers from Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC), could benefit the European hotel sector.
According to a report from management company John Lang Lasalle (JLL), the BRIC countries make up the majority of the travellers who venture to Europe – around 220 million people a year – and the figure is estimated to increase to 300 million over the next 20 years.
JLL predicts that businesses which are able to establish themselves in the BRIC countries will be in a position to take advantage of the tourist influx in Europe.
Mark Wynne-Smith, CEO of JLL’s European operations, said: “The internationally renowned established Asian chains Taj, Oberoi and Shangri-La are seeking to expand their portfolios across Europe.”
“The increase in tourists will create a major opportunity for the European hotel market.”
