Boost for British bid as Pinsent takes seat at IOC Commission
Triple Olympic gold medallist Matthew Pinsent has been sworn in as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
As the third British member to become part of the IOC's new athletes' commission, along with the Princess Royal and Craig Reedie, Pinsent aims to win support for London's bid for the 2012 Games.
Taking up the Commission seat following the resignation of Jan Zelezny, the Czech javelin thrower, Pinsent says he is relishing the new challenge: 'The athletes commission is one of the best things to come out of the scandals of the Olympic movement in the last few years. Being on the IOC gives athletes a massive chance to have their voices heard.'
