Bournemouth developer seeks more time
Bath-based developer, the Trevor Osborne Property Group, has applied to extend its planning permission for a major leisure project in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Restaurants, a casino and rooftop gardens are being proposed as part of the Pavilion Gardens scheme at Westover Road, which has been held up due to unforeseen circumstances. Ongoing negotiations over a land swap between Bournemouth Borough Council (BBC) and the Meyrick Estate, which owns the site, have prevented work from starting on the scheme.
Trevor Osborne said: "This application to extend planning permission follows delays which were not of our making but we remain determined to make this development a reality. "We've made the most of the extra time to polish the plans further, including better lift access and slight changes to the internal floor plans but the overall appearance of the Pavilion Gardens Project remains the same."
BBC portfolio holder for special projects Bob Chapman added: "I hope our long negotiations with the Meyrick Estate will have far-reaching benefits for the Borough, enabling future improvements through the Town Centre Vision." However, the delay has not stopped BBC from moving ahead with other aspects of the restoration of the pavilion site, with work to replace the roof and ballroom dance floor.
