Bowlplex has opened a 30,000sq ft bowling and entertainment site in Broadway Plaza, Birmingham.

The £2.5m venue was designed by Poole-based architects, WDG and as well as 20 fully computerised bowling lanes, offers a late licensed Stadium Sports Bar and Grill, American Pool Pit and Video World with arcade games.

The centre has a 2am licence and live DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.

Managing director, Tracy Standish, said: “We were very happy to be able to open a site in Birmingham and especially at Broadway Plaza as it is an ideal location for such an exciting concept as Bowlplex.”

Ian Ward, cabinet member for leisure sport and culture in Birmingham, who was present at the opening, added: “Bowlplex is yet another high quality leisure attraction for Birmingham and is part of the ongoing redevelopment of the city centre, which is creating a vibrant atmosphere in Birmingham.”

Bowlplex now operates 11 bowling and entertainment sites ranging in size from 20,000-34,000sq ft, most of which have been designed by WDG.

Bowlplex will opening a further £2.5m, 20-lane venue in Castleford, Leeds, in September and plans further expansion.
