CIMSPA members vote for business plan
CIMSPA, the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector held its first AGM yesterday (7th November) and a record number of members voted on the future business plan and trustees.
Out of 203 voting members, 185 supported the business plan, which included a new governance structure put together following a four month root and branch review of the organisation by trustee, Dave Stalker (see http://bit.ly/1dHsDeN.) It states the precise role the Institute should fulfil and what is the most appropriate governance structure to support it going forward.
Carl Bennett, from the NHS Stoke on Trent; Julian Leybourne of ICON Training and indepent pools consultant, Ian Nicks, were elected as trustees of the Chartered Institute.
Interim chair, Marc Newey, said he is delighted that so many attended, as the landscape the members are operating in has changed significantly since the body was formed in 2011, and a strong professional organisation is needed to lead the sector.
