ukactive has today (26 May) confirmed the shortlist of candidates vying for nine seats on its new Membership Council.

The formation of a new Membership Council is part of the reforms borne out of a 12-month consultation with ukactive members and partners designed to ensure a governance structure that is fit for purpose and in line with best practice recommended by key agencies such as Sport England.

The Membership Council, to be chaired by outgoing ukactive CEO David Stalker, will be the formal voice of the membership base in ukactive governance, reporting to the board and taking on topical sector challenges, such as the ongoing issues relating to skills and workforce development.

Stalker, who will also sit on the ukactive Board of Directors, said: “Whatever the results of the upcoming elections, based on the quality of the applications we have received I am very confident that we will be assembling an innovative and forward-thinking Membership Council, which will be able to lead the sector forward for years to come, taking advantage of the many opportunities for the sector”.

Voting commences today and concludes on Friday 12 June. ukactive members can vote for their preferred representatives via the ukactive website by clicking here.
