Canterbury play area revamp complete
Canterbury City Council (CCC) has announced that work has been completed on a £59,000 overhaul of a play facility in the St Stephen's area of the city.
SMP Playgrounds was appointed by the council to undertake the work, which included the installation of springers, a swing cradle, an aerial runway and units for climbing and sliding. Grass safety surfacing has also been provided to maintain the 'natural feel' of the facility. SMP has also been responsible for the renovation of four other play areas in recent months.
CCC funded the St Stephen's renovation, along with a £5,000 contribution from county councillor Graham Gibbons' Member Fund. Rosemary Doyle, the council's executive member for leisure, said: "The completion of work at St Stephen's brings to a close this phase of play area improvements, and we are delighted with the results."
