Cedar Fair to spend US$62m on new attractions in 2009
Cedar Fair Entertainment, the Sandusky, Ohio, US-based theme park operator, has announced that it will spend US$62m (£42m, 33.7m euro) on new attractions next year.
A third of that money will be spent on the US$22m (£14.9m, 17.6m euro) Diamondback rollercoaster at Kings Island in Cincinnati.
World of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri, will build a new wooden coaster called Prowler, while Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, will build the 125-ft tall Carolina Cobra coaster.
Soak City Water Park at Valleyfair in Shakopee, Minnesota, will receive a new 350,000-gallon wave pool called Breakers Bay and Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia, will build two new family rides – the Americana Ferris wheel and the El Dorado rotating car ride.
Lastly, several of Cedar Fair’s parks will debut new live shows, including a new ice-skating show at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.
Dick Kinzel, chair, president and chief executive officer of Cedar Fair, said: “Cedar Fair will remain committed to exceptional and affordable family fun in 2009. The addition of these attractions will provide diverse riding options for our guests, no matter where they land on the thrill-riding spectrum.”
