Cedar Point resort park reopens
Cedar Point amusement park and resort in Sandusky, Ohio, US, unveiled its new attractions for the 2006 season on 6 May.
One of the park’s new additions is the Skyhawk thrill ride. It is one of the tallest slammer rides in the world with two 86ft arms – each carrying 20 passengers – that swing back and forth, going higher and faster each time. When riders reach the peak of the arc, riders will be more than 125ft in the air and reach speeds of more than 60mph.
John Hildebrandt, vice president and manager of Cedar Point, said: “We can’t wait for the 2006 season to get underway. Our goal this season is to make Cedar Point better value than ever.”
Cedar Point – which has 68 rides and more rollercoasters than any other park in the world – has lowered admission prices and will remain fully open until 4 September this year, after which it will only be open for special events and ‘bonus weekends’. Details: www.cedarpoint.com
