Cedar Point’s new 51, 000sq ft hotel and water park development, Castaway Bay, is set to open to the public on 5 November.

At a cost of $22m, the 230,000sq ft expansion is part of the park’s redevelopment of the former Radisson Harbour Inn property located at the entrance to Cedar Point Causeway.

Castaway Bay features 237 hotel rooms and suites including family-oriented units and a 38,000sq ft indoor waterpark, which will be open all year round.

The waterpark includes a pool, whirlpool spas, exercise room, restaurants, shops and space for meetings, group events and birthday parties.

One of the main attractions will be the innovative Rendezvous Run, a 520ft-high waterslide that propels riders uphill using water jets.

Other features of the waterpark include the Castaway Bay wave pool, a 100,000 gallon pool which generates 3ft-high waves; a toddler’s tide pool; a Lookout Lagoon family funhouse; a multi-story interactive play area called the Grotto; an indoor and outdoor whirlpool and Big Daddy’s snack shack.

The complex has been designed by R2 Architects Guild, with rides supplied by Water Technology, Neuman pools and Beaver Dam.

Restaurant facilities also include TGI Friday’s, Ebb & Eddy’s Island Sweets & Eats deli and Mango Mike’s family buffet.
