Charlton Athletic has denied it is the subject of a takeover bid.
The announcement came after a BBC news report claimed that a Middle Eastern business consortium is primed to invest in The Valley at the end of the season.
In the report, the BBC claimed that the bid, put together by a “group of businessmen from the Middle East and Europe,” valued the club at around £50m.
And that, the group was “keen on Charlton because of its south London location, which is suitable for expansion”.
Charlton chief executive Peter Varney said: “The takeover rumour is totally unfounded.”
