Chichester museum to close ahead of move
Chichester District Museum's (CDM) Little London home is to close for the final time on 29 January ahead of its move to a new location later this year.
A new attraction is being developed in Tower Street, with more than 350,000 objects that comprise the museum's collection to be moved. Chichester District Council has said, however, that the museum's learning and outreach programme will continue to operate once the Little London building closes.
CDM manager Tracey Clark said: "This is an exciting time as this is the biggest move in the museum's history." "The new museum in Tower Street will provide a larger store for the collections, larger exhibition spaces, a fully functioning learning room, research room, and museum library."
CDM dates back 1831 and moved to its current Little London home in 1962.
