Compagnie des Alpes to acquire Walibi theme parks
It is understood that French ski resort operator Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) has completed a deal to acquire five leisure parks from Belgium-based Star Parks for an undisclosed sum.
The deal includes four of Star Parks’ Walibi-branded attractions in Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
The Star Parks sites made 81m euro (£55m, US$102m) in 2005 and received 3.7 million visitors.
The Walibi Belgium & Aqualibi is the most successful of the properties involved in the deal. Established in 1975, it generates around 1.3 million visitors a year.
CDA operates 15 leisure parks in across Europe and 14 ski resorts in the Alps, which made 375m euro (£257m, US$474m) in sales last fiscal year. Details: www.compagniesdesalpes.com
