Finnish multi-activity operator, SuperPark United, has revealed ambitions to roll out sites across the UK via franchise licences and partnerships with investors, property owners and operators.

The company, which was founded in 2012, says it's aiming to open sites in London and to gain a presence in major UK cities.

SuperPark has designed a range of 100 movement-based activities, out of which 30-40 are chosen per location. Examples include climbing walls, obstacle walls, zip wires, slides, pedal cars, professional trampolines and gymnastic floors, with a focus on physical activity for the family.

Property agent, Savills, is supporting with the UK site-finding, looking for locations of 20 – 35k sq ft, with capacity to accommodate 150 - 300k guests annually.

SuperPark currently operates its 'competitive socialising' offering in 23 locations worldwide, including China, Singapore, Malaysia, Kuwait, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Egypt, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

Upcoming openings are scheduled for Kazakhstan, Japan and the UK.

The combined facilities welcomed 2 million guests last year in total and 7 million since the company launched.

A push into India in 2023 – with ambitions to launch 25-30 locations – hasn't yielded any sites to date.

Savills' Jessica Hill said: “We’re focused on securing UK locations that align with SuperPark’s vision. The pandemic has driven demand for more engaging and active experiences and the range of activities and flexibility offered by SuperPark mean it's complementary to other leisure anchors.

"By focusing on nationwide locations, we're confident SuperPark will quickly become a standout destination”

Savills says competitive socialising has seen a 40 per cent increase in supply since 2018 and estimates that, given recent growth and current operator demand for sites in the UK, the next five years are likely to see a further 30 per cent increase in the supply of competitive socialising units, bringing the count to over 800 sites.
