Council backing for Ilkeston football
Erewash Borough Council (EBC) has reiterated its commitment to help keep football at the New Manor Ground in Ilkeston, after the town's club was wound up.
Ilkeston Town Football Club went out of business in September after a High Court official said the former Blue Square Bet North Club was "plainly insolvent". However, EBC has pledged to retain ownership of the venue as a community asset for the use of local residents and any football club formed in the future.
EBC lead member for culture and leisure Mike Wallis said: "As a Council we are very keen to be involved in the rebuilding and reforming of Ilkeston Town Football Club. "We're particularly keen to keep football at the New Manor Ground and would like to see the Youth Academy remain and flourish in Ilkeston."
