Council moves to safeguard sports facilities
Tendring District Council (TDC) has announced the publication of a new report looking at the best model of delivery for local sports facilities, while also reducing costs.
The report was compiled by FMG Consulting and has set out a number of options on offer to the local authority, although it is not thought any changes will take place until April 2013. Among the options available is for TDC to retain operation of sports facilities; to establish a new trust; or to invite an existing organisation or a private sector partner to take over.
It forms part of the local authority's bid to reduce expenditure, while also preserving quality of service and safeguarding the future of local facilities. A TDC spokesperson said: "The report is very detailed and will take some time to fully consider but it will provide a sound and robust platform for the council to take forward options for the future."
