Councillors back £2.5m Worle proposals
North Somerset Council's (NSC) executive has "welcomed" plans for a new development comprising sports facilities and learning disabilities services in Worle, Weston-super-Mare.
The £2.5m complex is set to include a full-size artificial turf pitch with floodlighting; a gym; a dance studio; a multi-purpose sports room; and indoor and outdoor changing areas. Located at Worle Community School, the adult day care services would operate during the school day and the school would have use of facilities for curriculum-based purposes.
Members of the public will be able to access some of the facilities - including the gym - in the school day, with all areas opened up at evenings and weekends for public use. It is proposed that the facility will open in September 2012, with NSC officers to now look into how best to run the sports provision. A further report will be submitted in due course.
