KCell Services has developed a fraud detection system designed to help eliminate more than £1.8bn worth of counterfeit currency currently in circulation in the UK.

The Counter Measure makes it possible to detect forged bank notes, credit cards and other counterfeit documents using white and UV light to reveal hidden features and watermarks.

'Having worked in leisure and retail for nearly 20 years, the issue of counterfeit cash and credit card fraud have been high profile for some time,' said Kcell's managing director, Kevin Coetzee. 'Counter Measure is the first of its kind to use both UV and white light to test for all types of fraud.'
