Dame Helen Ghosh to be new National Trust director general
Dame Helen Ghosh has announced she is to step down as permanent secretary at the Home Office to become the new director general of the National Trust (NT).
It follows a career spanning more than 30 years in the Civil Service, with Dame Helen set to replace outgoing NT director general Dame Fiona Reynolds.
Dame Helen said: "The work of the National Trust is something that is very close to my heart and this was a rare opportunity to lead a major voluntary organisation which I could not allow to pass by."
