Devon pool reopens after £500k overhaul
Devon's Torrington Swimming Pool has been reopened by leisure trust 1610, following the completion of an extensive £500,000 refurbishment funded by Torridge District Council.
The trust has secured a £1.4m contract with the local authority to operate four facilities over a 10-year period, which also includes Torridge Pool and Holsworthy Leisure Centre.
Work at Torrington Swimming Pool was carried out in two phases and came after the centre was forced to shut last year due to "serious concerns" with the condition of the roof.
1610 chief executive Tim Nightingale said: "Although it was necessary to close the pool during the major repair work, I am sure everyone will now agree that it was worthwhile doing it."
Shield Environmental and SWH (Build) were involved with the refurbishment.
