Dome and Wembley miss out on tax changes
Neither the Millennium Dome nor the Wembley Stadium redevelopments will benefit from government proposals to aid in the regeneration of rundown areas of the UK.
Plans by chancellor, Gordon Brown to abolish stamp duty on commercial property in the country's poorest areas will have no effect on two of the UKs most problematic projects.
Both are owned by property developers, Quintain which loses out in what has been described as a postcode lottery.
The Meridian Delta consortium has just been granted planning permission for its designs on the Dome site - although mayor, Ken Livingstone has said he will veto them unless the proportion of affordable housing to be made available is increased - but it will gain nothing from the rule change.
The £750m project to redevelop the Wembley Stadium site is currently underway, with completion scheduled for early 2006.
