Susan Harmsworth, founder and chief executive of spa and skincare company ESPA, has been recognised as part of the 2010 Queen's Birthday Honours.

Awarded her outstanding services to the spa and beauty industry, the honour reflects her involvement in the global spa industry for the majority her professional life.

She said: "I was really thrilled to receive the letter with the news! I'm passionate about what I do every day, but simply couldn't have done this without everyone else around me, so special thanks need to go to clients worldwide and my fantastic team."

Harmsworth founded ESPA in September 1993, located in Farnham, UK. The company currently operates in 55 countries.
