EUR2.6m investment for Waterford and Offaly tourism projects
Irish tourism minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed investment worth EUR2.6m (£2.1m) in support of two projects - one in Waterford and the other at Lough Boora, County Offaly.
Nearly EUR1.9m (£1.5m) is to be made available through Failte Ireland's Tourism Capital Investment Programme towards enhancements in the Viking Triangle area of Waterford.
Meanwhile, EUR730,000 (£579,000) will be used to upgrade infrastructure at Lough Boora Parklands. A new visitor centre is to be established, while access will be improved.
Varadkar said: "The Tourism Capital Investment Programme delivers employment at all stages, from construction at the start, to guiding tourists when projects are up and running."
