East Cambs receives Sports England funding
Sporting groups in East Cambridgeshire have received £28,500 of funding from Sport England this week.
East Cambs Sport, a partnership led by East Cambridgeshire District Council and involving other local organisations, applied for the funding to improve the health and fitness of people in the district.
The money will go towards various projects, including schemes to get women and girls to be more active, older people’s activities and initiatives to inspire young people to get fit.
Phillip Turner, team leader for sport and leisure at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Getting this additional money to fund our activities is great news. It means we can implement our action plan, which we have developed in partnership with the community and key local partners.
“We will be delivering some exciting projects to increase participation rates among a range of target groups such as young people, the elderly and those who don’t get enough exercise. This money will make a positive difference to our local community.”
