East meets West at Northern College of Acupuncture
A course combing both Western and Eastern approaches to nutrition is to launch at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York in September.
The Diploma/MSc in Nutrition is aimed at both orthodox and complementary health practitioners including doctors, nurses, dentists, osteopaths, chiropractors and acupuncturists.
It covers the nutritional approach to a wide range of ailments and incorporates meal planning, health foods, food preparation and nutritional research.
Jacqueline Young, a qualified nutritionist, naturopath, oriental medical practitioner and clinical psychologist who has worked in natural medicine for 20 years will be leading the course.
Guest speakers will also include The Observer’s health adviser, John Briffa; the biochemist and government advisor on toxicity, Jane Plant; and Patrick Holford, the spokesman and author on nutrition whose recent TV appearances include This Morning, GMTV and Tonight with Trevor Macdonald.
“Increasing one’s knowledge of nutrition can transform clinical practice for health professionals, whatever field they may be in,” says course leader Young. “I believe we are offering one of the most comprehensive and exciting nutrition courses in the country.” Details: www.chinese-medicine.co.uk
