Eco-lodge opens on Kangaroo Island
Baillie Lodges – a company set up by husband and wife James and Hayley Baillie to provide premium experiential travel – has launched its flagship site on Australia’s Kangaroo Island.
Called Southern Ocean Lodge, the luxury hotel and spa is set on a dramatic clifftop location on the island, which is dubbed the Australian Galagpagos and has a total of 21 national and conservation parks.
The Spa Retreat at the lodge offers a range of traditional and contemporary therapies, including a three-hour signature Dreaming treatment. There are three treatment rooms, a relaxation room and a steamroom.
The island where the lodge is situated was discovered by English explorer Matthew Flinders more than 200 years ago.
Baillie Lodges also plans to develop a second site called Remarkable Lodge on the Tasman Peninsula, near the Australian historical site of Port Arthur. It will open in early 2009.
