Empowered Brands, the parent company of Énergie Fitness and master franchisor for UBX and Fit+ in the UK and Ireland, has appointed Jon Cottam as CEO.

Already in post, Cottam was previously CEO at United Fitness Brands, as well as spending six years at Lift Brands – parent company of Snap Fitness and 9Round – culminating in the role of CEO Lift Brands EMEA.

Empowered Brands chair, Pietro Nicholls, from R M Funds, says: "Jon’s extensive leadership experience in the fitness and franchise sectors, combined with his entrepreneurial drive, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Empowered Brands during its next chapter.

“With Énergie Fitness as our flagship brand and the innovative growth of UBX and Fit+, Jon’s expertise in strategic growth, franchise management and operational excellence will ensure we continue to deliver exceptional value to franchisees and customers alike."

Cottam told HCM: “Each Empowered Brand presents a distinct and compelling opportunity to inspire a healthier lifestyle, while delivering exceptional value to franchisees and members alike.

“UBX and Fit+ are dynamic, fast-growing concepts with tremendous potential, while Énergie Fitness stands as a proven leader in the sector.

“We will place innovation and collaboration at the centre of all we do as we strive to drive long term, sustainable growth throughout the group."

Cottam takes over from Mark Pinner, who had been in the post since March 2023, having joined from outside the industry.
