Fall in profits for Rainbow's End
New Zealand Experience, the operator of Rainbow's End theme park in Auckland, has seen a fall in post-tax profits of 12.5 per cent to NZ$916,000 (£0.38m, US$0.63m, AUD$0.75m, €0.44m,) in the last year.
The company attributed its lower profits to global economic uncertainty restricting disposable income, which lead to a 13 per cent fall in visitor numbers.
Revenue was boosted however by admission price increases in August 2008 and new food and beverage offerings.
In June the theme park began work on a new attraction which is set to be introduced later this year, and New Zealand Experience has also negotiated an extension of its lease with Manukau City Council, which was due to expire in 2019, to 2034.
