A planning application for a £250,000 spa at the Pendle Wavelengths swimming pool in Nelson, Lancashire, UK, is to be submitted to Pendle Borough Council in early August as part of a £2.5m new-build health and fitness extension to existing facilities.
Operated by Pendle Leisure Trust, which has already secured all the funding for the development, the 1,000sq ft (93sq m) spa suite will be equipped by Dale Sauna and feature a steamroom, a sanarium, a rasul mud bath, a sauna, massage and aromatherapy areas and ice and monsoon showers.
The spa has been designed by Pozonni Design Group based on Roman bathing principles and, pending planning permission, work is expected to begin in September with a completion date of February 2007.
