Future of Neilston Leisure Centre, Glasgow, Scotland, to be considered
East Renfrewshire Council will consider the future of Neilston Leisure Centre, Glasgow, Scotland, this month, following its closure in August due to public safety concerns.
A report to go before councillors on 17 January will outline work needed on the facility and feedback from consultation with centre customers, the Neilston Development Trust and the Neilston Community Council.
The council closed the facility due to concerns about its air conditioning and the pool’s circulation system.
Head of service at East Renfrewshire Council Ken McKinlay said the closure was precautionary and taken to remove any risk to the public.
He said further to a replacement air-handling system other maintenance issues might need attention due to the age of the building.
A public meeting on 10 January will update the local community about the centre’s future.
