GB basketball teams handed 2012 slots
Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) has revealed that both men's and women's basketball teams will be able to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The world governing body for basketball has agreed to grant both teams an automatic place at the Games following a vote of the organisation's central board. FIBA confirmed that a number of requirements - including a "solid" legacy plan following the 2012 Games and the teams' competitiveness - had been met by Great Britain.
However, FIBA also reaffirmed the need for British Basketball and home nation authorities to decide on the best governance model going forward to continue the game's growth.
