Gerflor has supplied 50,000 sq m of flooring for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is providing the flooring for the volleyball, sitting volleyball and handball competitions, as well as for temporary structures for spectators and for 100 double-decker buses across London.

The company has fitted out more than 17,500 sq m of Taraflex Sports Flooring in 10 volleyball courts in four different venues, eight handball courts in three venues, and five sitting-volleyball courts in two venues.

Following several months of discussions with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to determine specific requirements, Gerflor developed a tailor-made flooring - the Taraflex Sport M Evolution Eco-Fit.

Gerflor says this free-floating system is economical and ecological, reducing the use of adhesive and volatile organic compounds emissions by 80 per cent. The material used is easy to recycle when it is no longer needed, saving up to 50 per cent of resources, in comparison with a standard solution.

Gerflor has also provided 30,000 sq m of Tarasafe flooring for the temporary structures and grandstand seating for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Additionally, Gerflor has supplied 6,000sq m in Tarabus Helios NT flooring in a special colour for 100 double-decker buses.
