The German World Cup side is to spend its time in its own purpose-built village complex with 65 rooms when the team takes part in next year’s tournament in Brazil.

The Bavarians are pioneering a new idea, which will see the development of a secluded German-built centre being labelled the Campo Bahia located north of Porto Seguro, as opposed to staying in an allocated hotel and training complex.

The site will cover 15,000sq m (161,458 sq ft) and include a training pitch, as well as a leading fitness centre.

The base will also be home to a football youth academy and an orphanage to create a legacy once the three-time World Cup winners leave their base. The BBC reports that the camp is to be styled like a seaside holiday village.

The German Football Association (DFB) has said that it is not funding the development, while it is thought that a German entrepreneur seeking to provide his country’s team with optimal conditions to prepare in is behind the planning of the site.

The camp, to be completed by March of next year, is situated 45 minutes from the Port Seguro airport, which Germany will use for in order to travel to matches to cities within a two-hour flying time.

"We saw at the previous World Cup in 2010 that short distances between team headquarters, training pitches and media centre are crucial for everyone involved," said Germany's team manager Oliver Bierhoff.

"It was important for us to minimise any travel fatigue because of the size of the country and the great distances between cities."

The development comes amid fears of unfinished facilities, while construction work for some of the tournament’s sites has led to the deaths of Brazilian workers.
