Gosling’s tennis bubble opens
A new airhall covering four clay tennis courts has been opened at the Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The project will ensure around-the-year tennis at the centre and is part of a £4.7m redevelopment of the Gosling Sports Park.
The tennis bubble, supplied and erected by Bridome, was funded by a £400,000 Sport England grant and a further £100,000 from the Herfordshire Lawn Tennis Association.
Gosling Tennis was awarded High Performance Centre status in 2009 and is currently used as a base for a number of national-standard players – including the 12 Aegon FutureStars.
Matt Willcocks, tennis director at Gosling said: "The construction of the tennis bubble is already making a huge difference to our tennis offering at Gosling Sports Park.
"The bubble has enabled our coaching team to continue the drive to get more people into the sport and therefore providing them the opportunity to achieve their potential."
The funding was provided as part of British Tennis' facilities strategy which has received substantial investment from Sport England.
