Gourmet Restaurants Group acquired
Gourmet Restaurants Group – the firm behind The Bombay Bicycle Club in Battersea and the Tiffinbites and Vama Indian Restaurant chains – has been bought by entrepreneur Anoup Treon.
Treon, chair and chief executive of nursing home operator European Care, bought the business after it was revealed that the company was facing administration.
Tiffinbites founder, Jamal Hirani, quit Gourmet – which acquired Bombay Bicycle Club and Vama in July last year – leaving it poised to call in the administrators on Friday (16 January) before Treon made his bid.
Tiffinbites has 11 UK outlets: St Pauls, Canary Wharf, Moorgate, Liverpool Street, Westfield, Harrods 102, Harrods Foodhall and Selfridges in London, Selfridges Manchester Trafford, Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square in Manchester and Selfridges in Birmingham.
