Grand Prix for athletes
UK Athletics and the British Athletics League are working in partnership to devise a competition for elite athletes.
A trial Grand Prix format event will be held next month as a blueprint for an ongoing arrangement commencing next year. Roy Tilling, teams and competitions co-ordinator said: 'A national Grand Prix series would be of great benefit to the elite athletes unable to get onto the European events.
'The news will be welcomed by certified venues which can host the events,' Tilling added.
'Hopefully this will encourage venues across the UK to improve their facilities in order to attract a Grand Prix.'
